พระพุทธรูปศักดิ์สิทธิ์ประดิษฐาน ณ หอพระทองคำ วัดพิพัฒน์มงคล
แต่เดิมนั้น สถานที่แห่งนี้เป็นป่าละเมาะมีสภาพรกร้างน่ากลัวมากมายไปด้วยสัตว์มีพิษร้าย เคยมีผู้คนเข้ามาอาศัยอยู่ ๕-๖ ครัวเรือนแต่ก็อยู่ได้ไม่นานต้องถอนเสาเรือนหนีไป เพาะปลูกอะไรก็ไม่งอกงาม มีเรื่องเล่าว่า ในเวลากลางคืนในวันธรรมสวนะ(วันพระ) มักมีคนเห็นลำแสงหลากสีพวยพุ่งไปมาในบริเวณนี้เป็นที่อัศจรรย์ใจยิ่งนัก หลวงพ่อพิพัฒน์มงคล (ปัจจุบันด้รับพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯพระราชทานสมณศักดิ์ ที่ พระครูวรคุณประยุต) เจ้าอาวาส/เจ้าคณะอำเภอทุ่งเสลี่ยม ในปัจจุบัน ได้จาริกธุดงค์ผ่านมาถึงและเห็นว่า สถานที่แห่งนี้เป็นที่สัปปายะเหมาะแก่การก่อตั้งสถานที่ปฏิบัติธรรม จึงได้ปลักกลดบำเพ็ญภาวนา ณ สถานที่แห่งนี้.... และในคืนนั้นได้พบเห็นเหตุอัศจรรย์ในมิต จึงตั้งจิตอธิษฐานเพื่อจะสร้างสถานที่ปฏิบัติธรรมบนผืนแผ่นดินแห่งนี้ ต่อมาได้พบกับนางสุพิณ พิพัฒน์เดชพงษ์ เจ้าของที่ดินที่ท่านได้ปักกลดจำพรรษาอยู่ เกิดความเลื่อมใสในสัมมาปฏิบัติของหลวงพ่อ จึงได้ถวายที่ดินผืนนี้ซึ่งเป็นที่รกร้างจำนวน ๑๑ ไร่เศษ เพื่อให้เป็นที่ก่อสร้างสำนักปฏิบัติธรรม 
ในปลายปี ๒๕๒๖ หลวงพ่อได้เริ่มก่อสร้างสำนักปฏิบัติธรรม โดยอาคารหลังแรกที่ก่อสร้างแล้วเสร็จ คือ หอสวดมนต์ และใช้เป็นที่ปฏิบัติธรรมไปด้วย โดยได้ชื่อว่า " สำนักปฏิบัติธรรมพัฒนาพุทธนิมิต " จนถึงปี ๒๕๒๗ ได้ยกฐานะขึ้นเป็นวัดที่ถูกต้องตามกฏหมาย จากกรมการศาสนา โดยใช้ชื่อว่า "วัดพิพัฒน์มงคล" ตั้งนั้นเป็นต้นมาหลวงพ่อได้พัฒนาสร้างเสนาสนะ และถาวรวัตถุต่างๆ โดยได้รับแรงศรัทธาจากสาธุชนที่เลื่อมใสช่วยสนับสนุนเป็นอย่างดี
ปัจจุบัน วัดพิพัฒน์มงคล ได้ขยายพื้นที่ออกไปเพื่อให้เพียงพอแก่กิจกรรมทั้งด้านพระพุทธศาสนา และการสาธรณสงเคราะห์ เป็นพื้นที่ ๑๑๖ ไร่ โดยแบ่งออกเป็น ๔ ส่วน ดังนี้-.
ส่วนที่ ๑ จัดเป็นสวนเฉลิมพระเกียรติ มีเนื้อที่ประมาณ ๓๐ ไร่ จัดเป็น -ลานปฏิบัติธรรมพุทธานุภาพ -สระน้ำวงแหวน -สะพานวงแหวน -ศาลาพักร้อน -ศาลาปฏิบัติธรรม -พระพุทธนิมิตมงคล(พลวงพ่อโต) เป็นส่วนที่มีความร่มรื่นสวยงาม มีต้นไม้ยืนต้น ไม้ดอกไม้ประดับเหมาะแก่การปฏิบัติธรรมอย่างยิ่ง...
ส่วนที่ ๒ มีเนื้อที่ประมาณ ๔๐ ไร่ จัดเป็นเขตพุทธาวาส และเขตสังฆาวาส เป็นที่ตั้งของ -รัตนอุโบสถ -วิหารราย -สังฆวิหาร -กุฏิรับรอง -ลานพุทธมณฑลจำลอง -จตุรังคเจดีย์(บรรจุพระสารีริกธาตุ จากประเทศศรีลังกา และแก้วมงคลนิมิต ซึ่งขุดพย ณ บริเวณที่สร้างเจดีย์ -อาคารอเนกประสงค์ -หอพระทองคำ(ที่ประดิษฐานพระพุทธสุโขโพธิ์ทอง พระบรมสารีริกธาตุ(พระรากขวัญ) และพระพุทธรูปโบราณ โบราณวัตถุ) -พิพิธภัณฑ์ท้องถิ่น -เรือนไทยพิพิธภัณฑ์(หอคำหลวง) ฯ
ส่วนที่ ๓ มีเนื้อที่ประมาณ ๑๙ ไร่ จัดเป็นส่วนสาธารสงเคราะห์ ประกอบด้วย ฌาปนสถาน(เมรุ) ศาลาธรรมสังเวช -สระน้ำ -และปลูกป่า ฯ
ส่วนที่ ๔ มีเนื้อที่ระมาณ ๑๔ ไร่ เป็นจัดให้ป็นที่สร้างบ้านสำหรับผู้มีรายได้น้อย(ดำเนินการไปแล้วบางส่วน) และสร้างศูนย์สงเคราะห์คนชรา วัดพิพัฒน์มงคล(อยู่ในขั้นตอนขอจัดตั้งและหางบสนับสนุนโครงการฯ)
วัดพิพัฒน์มงคล เป็นที่รู้จักกันดีไปทั้งประเทศ จนถึงยังต่างประเทศถือเป็นสถานธรรมซื่อดังอันดับต้น ๆ ของประเทศไทย และยังเป็นแหล่งสถานที่ศึกษาเชิงพุทธศาสนา และสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวเชิงธรรมชาติ โดยมีหลวงพ่อพระครูวรคุณประยุต พระอาจารย์พิพัฒน์มงคล เจ้าอาวาสและเจ้าคณะอำเภอ ทุ่งเสลี่ยม ก่อตั้งสร้างวัดได้เพียง 23 ปี ได้พัฒนาถาวรวัตถุต่าง ๆ ที่จัดว่าเป็นเอกลักษณ์วิจิตรเชิงศิลปะโบราณทรงไทยล้านนาขึ้นเป็นจำนวนมากในวัดแห่งนี้ เช่น โบสถ์เรือนแก้ว วิหารล้านนา ลานศึกษาพระปริยัติธรรมแผนกบาลี-นักธรรม-การพัฒนา-และการปฏิบัติธรรม รวมทั้งพระพุทธรูปทองคำ ศิลปะสมัยกรุงสุโขทัยที่ประดิษฐานและสร้างซื่อเสียงโด่งดังมาควบคู่กับวัดและจังหวัดสุโขทัย
 วัดพิพัฒน์มงคล ได้รับการยกย่องเป็นวัดพัฒนาตัวอย่างปี 2540 เป็นอุทยานการศึกษาปี 2541 เป็นวัดพัฒนาตัวอย่างที่มีผลงานดีเด่นปี 2543 เป็นวัดปฏิบัติธรรมเฉลิมพระเกียติพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวปี 2543 และได้รับเสมาทองคำพระราชทานจากสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาสยามบรมราชกุมารี ได้รับการยกย่องจากสถาบันพัฒนา และโล่เกียรติคุณต่าง ๆ เป็นจำนวนมาก จนมีคณะสงฆ์ จากวัดและจังหวัดต่าง ๆ ให้ความสนใจมาศึกษาดูงานมากมาย ซึ่งวัดได้จัดระเบียบความสวยงาม ความสะอาด ร่มรื่น สมเป็นสถานที่สำคัญและศักดิ์สิทธิ ซึ่งปัจจุบันเป็นที่ประดิษฐานของพระพุทธรูปทองคำ ( พระพุทธรูปสุโขโพธิ์ทอง ) ซึ่งเป็นทองคำแท้มีอายุยาว 500 ปี หนัก 9 กิโลกรัม มีพระบรมสารีริกธาตุ พระธาตุรากขวัญ ซึ่งได้อัญเชิญมาจากประเทศศรีลังกา โดยสมเด็จพระมหานายกะ สมเด็จพระสังฆราชลังกาในนครแคนดี้ ได้นำมาประดิษฐานเป็นถาวรที่วัดแห่งนี้ตั้งแต่ปี 2527 ( พระธาตุรากขวัญ คือพระธาตุไหปลาร้าของพระพุทธเจ้า )
เนื่องในวโรกาสอันเป็นมงคลสมัยที่พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวได้ทรงครองสิริราชสมบัติครบ 60 พรรษา และทรงเจริญพระชนมพรรษาครบ 80 พรรษา ในปี 2550 หลวงพ่อพระอาจารย์พิพัฒน์มงคลฯ ได้ร่วมกับคณะศิษยานุศิษย์ผู้ศรัทธาทั้งหลาย อาทิ พลเอก ชัยสิทธิ์ ชินวัตร พลเอกไพศาล กตัญญู พล ต.ท. ธีรจิตร์ อุตมะ ได้ร่วมกับบริษัทสมบูรณ์แอดวานซ์ โดยคุณ มาลินี คุณยงยุทธ กิตะพาณิชย์พร้อมครอบครัวและห้างทองแสงพรหม ได้เป็นประธานร่วมกันถวายปัจจัยเป็นทุนเบื้องแรกดำเนินการสร้างอาคารเรือนไทย หอคำหลวงไม้สักทอง เสา 99 ต้น ในขณะนี้ได้ดำเนินการไปได้ 50 % เพื่อให้ทันเฉลิมฉลองในปีมหามงคล 2 ปีนี้
